Soy Garlic Flank Steak

I found this recipe on the Food Network that had great reviews and sounded delicious. I let the flank steak marinate for over 24 hours and then cooked it in my grill pan - it smelled amazing while cooking. The steak turned out flavorful, tender, and delicious. Thanks for a great recipe Alton Brown.

Soy Garlic Flank Steak:
Adapted recipe and photos by For the Love of Cooking.net
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 2 tbsp + 2 tsp soy sauce
  • 2 green onions, sliced
  • 2 cloves of garlic, minced
  • Juice of 1 lime
  • 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes
  • 1/4 tsp ground cumin
  • 1 1/2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 lb flank steak
Combine the olive oil, soy sauce, green onion, minced garlic, lime juice, red pepper flakes, cumin, and brown sugar together in a food processor or blender then puree. Pour the marinade over the flank steak in a large zip lock bag then seal and place into the refrigerator for 24 hours.

Remove the meat from the refrigerator at least 20 minutes prior to grilling/cooking. Preheat the grill pan over medium high heat and coat with cooking spray. Once the pan is hot, add the flank steak and cook for 3-4 minutes on each side or until it's cooked to your desired degree of doneness. Let the meat rest for at least 5 minutes before slicing it against the grain. Enjoy.
