Peas with Butter and Shallots

I picked up some English Peas recently from Trader Joes. I wasn't sure if I wanted to do a fancy recipe with them or if I wanted to keep it simple. I ended up keeping it simple. I boiled the peas for just a couple of minutes then added them to a skillet with some shallots sautéed in a bit of butter then seasoned them with sea salt and freshly cracked pepper. Super quick. Super simple. Super tasty. Enough said.

Peas with Butter and Shallots:
Recipe and photos by For the Love of Cooking.net
  • 10 oz fresh English Peas (frozen would work great too)
  • 2-3 tsp butter
  • 1 small shallot, diced
  • Sea salt and freshly cracked pepper, to taste
Cook the peas in a boiling pot of water for 1½ - 2 minutes (less time if using frozen peas). Remove from the water and drain.

Heat the butter over medium heat then add the shallots and cook stirring constantly for 2-3 minutes. Add the cooked/drained peas to the butter and shallots, mixing well to evenly coat the peas in butter. Season with sea salt and freshly cracked pepper, to taste. Serve immediately. Enjoy.
